Catfish APLENTY!!!!

Here are some of the finished catfish models that hung on Fife Street during FestivALL. Most of them were really cool!

Atop my computer

Here is my small collection of figures that keep me company throughout the day. I posted this in response to the pictures on Rick Lee's blog of all those Star Wars figures on top of that graphic designer's computer. Can anyone name them all?

Comic strip
This is a comic strip that I have been wanting to develop for many years. It's called The Sculptor and I was given the opportunity to run a few strips in a local entertainment guide called VIBE. I think I managed to run four or five strips before it got too time consuming to continue, especially on a voluntary basis. But I was very pleased with how they turned out. Let me know what you think about it! I'd like very much to continue it someday. (Comic strip and character is copyrighted by Dale Morton)

MONSTERS!!!!!

These aren't costumes but they're incredibly awesome nonetheless. The shots of these busts were taken at WonderFest, a modeler's convention in Louisville that we try to attend each year. Alas, we didn't get to attend this year so I had to pull out some past shots. I have no idea who created the model of that demon up top but it was one of the most impressive pieces at the show. Next is a bust of Frankenstein's monster; a wonderful re-creation of Lon Chaney's Phantom by Jim Lawrence from Morris Costumes; and finally a very impressive gorilla by Louisville sculptor Bill Wieger. Wieger's work is absolutely mind-blowing.

Really Cheap GOLLUM

You see a lot of Lord of the Rings costumes at DragonCon...elves, Gandalf, hobbits, even an orc or two...but this poor dude actually wanted to be Gollum! A bald cap, some Spock ears, a loin cloth...that's about it. No makeup or anything. Precious? Well, maybe not.

"DIVE! DIVE! DIVE!"

This catfish I painted was inspired by the design of the Nautilus from Disney's film "20,000 Leagues Under the Sea". I christened my vessel the Naughty-Lass and painted a hot-lookin' mermaid on the hull in the tradition of the girls painted on World War II bombers.

Finished Snake!

Here are front and back shots of the finished RATTLESNAKE head I made for that high school in Arkansas. Wicked, isn't he?

Mayan calandar

This very impressive Mayan calandar was painted by one of my employees, 17 year-old Nora Frazier. It is three feet in diameter and painted on quarter-inch thick black insulating foam. It took her a solid year to create and now hangs in the Spanish language class room at Winfield High School.

Muppets ROCK!!!!!

As I continue to shamelessly raid my past files, here is Dr. Teeth and his band (I forget their actual name) from DragonCon '04. The Muppet characters are (from left to right) Dr. Teeth, Rolff, Animal, Zoot, Floyd, and Monica.

Catfish project

Here's a little peek into my personal Studio world. We're working on a number of projects at the moment but this one is local. We're creating 20 three-foot long paper mache CATFISH models which are going to be distributed to various artists in Charleston who will then paint them according to their own whims. These finished fish will then hang on Fife Street during FestivALL. These are shots of its creation, from sculpture, to mold, to finished fish. That's my cousin, Travis Morton, working hard cleaning the mold.

Spread your wings and fly!

Here are a couple of costumes from DragonCon '05 that had some mighty impressive wings, the first one for their realism, the second one for their wingspan.
