A time for sculpture...

This is a bust of Governor Willam MacCorkle that I was commissioned to create quite some years ago for display at Sunrise Museum when it was still housed in MacCorkle's mansion on Myrtle Road. The bust was a centerpiece of an exhibit about Governor MacCorkle's life and remained there until the museum came under new curatorship and was turned into the science center. I have no idea what became of the bust once the exhibit was dismantled. The bust was sculpted of clay and ultimately cast in solid plaster and painted to look like bronze.

Y'know, I always wondered where museums got those various busts. Learn somethin new everyday!

John, museums get busts and statues from all over the world, from mass manufacturers to individual commissioned sculptors. This is the only one I've ever done but I'd love the opportunity to create another statue or bust of some kind.
